The Poker Hand Rankings

As earlier mentioned, poker hand consists of 5 cards. Poker hands are in categories such as straight flush, royal flush, etc and these have been ranked below starting from the highest to the lowest.

Royal Flush

This consists of five cards in sequence. These five cards are of the same unit. As seen below, A, K, Q, J and 10 (all of diamonds) are all the same suit.

Straight Flush

Straight flush is formed by five-card straight in a sequence, all in the same suit.

Four of a Kind

Four of a kind consists of four cards of equal rank or the same value.

Full House

Full house is formed by a set of cards, three of which are of the same kind, having the same value and the other pair has another value.

Flush

Flush is any 5 cards, all of the same suit but not in a sequence.

Straight

Five cards of sequential value (in a sequence), but of different suit.

Three of a Kind

Three cards of the same value or rank.

Two Pairs

Two pair is two cards of one value and another two cards of another value. i.e. two different pairs.

1pair

One pair

Two cards of a matching rank, and three unrelated side cards.

High card

Any hand that does not qualify under a category listed above.
